Redmond has full belief in the club's ethos

Nathan Redmond says he has full belief in Southampton’s ethos, having made the move to St Mary’s on a five-year deal on Saturday.

The winger sealed a switch from Championship side Norwich City, becoming the club’s first signing of the summer in preparation for the 2016/17 campaign.

While Saints may not have a manager in place, Redmond has no concerns over the club’s stability and progression following his move to the south coast.

“It’s clear that whatever happens the ethos remains the same and I think that stability is what is key and what is needed for my development,” Redmond told

“I was just delighted that a club of Southampton’s stature was interested in me.

“The players they’ve produced has carried on as managers have come and gone and at the same time they’re producing good players and good teams.

“The club is buying into me, but I’m also buying into the club at the same time.”

Redmond will be able to call on three familiar faces to help him settle into life at Saints quicker.

The winger played alongside Matt Targett, Jack Stephens and James Ward-Prowse for England Under-21s this summer, and he’s looking forward to linking back up with the trio.

“I’ve always spoken to Prowsey what with him being one of the longest serving members in the Under-21s and throughout the age groups,” Redmond added.

“He’s always been trying to bend my ear. I spoke to him a little bit a few days before just about the area and how the club is.

“He’s filled me in and come pre-season those guys will help me settle in and relax in the environment. I think it will help.”
