Under-18s coach Craig Fleming was pleased with the manner of his side's performance, after they secured a convincing 3-0 win over Swansea at Staplewood.

The victory lifted Saints in to the top half of the U18s Premier League table, with striker Michael Obafemi adding to his growing goal tally, and defensive pairing Ollie Gardner and Jake Vokins finding the net to cap a bright display.

Reflecting on the win, Fleming said: "We're getting there, the performances have been quite consistent throughout, but we're always trying to improve in games. I'd still like to be a bit more clinical in the final third.

"Talking to an ex-defender, I'm pleased with the clean sheet. At academy level goals seem to fly in week on week, but defensively I thought we were solid and we created an awful lot of chances today."

A centre-half in his playing days, the 45-year-old was particularly delighted to see two defenders on the scoresheet, while reserving additional praise for Ireland international, Obafemi.

He added: "Always pleasing to see defenders scoring goals, Christoph had one disallowed as well. Attacking the ball is something we've been working on in training

"I thought our decision-making and execution of cross needs works, it is an area we need to improve.

"Michael is a real handful up front, he's got real pace and power. And starting to find some consistency in his performances now."
