Armstrong and Cédric go head to head

Stuart Armstrong and Cédric could go head to head in Sunday’s international friendly action, as Jan Bednarek also prepares for a UEFA Nations League clash against Italy.

Armstrong watched on as Scotland fell to a 2-1 defeat by Israel in the Nations League on Thursday, while Cédric was also an unused substitute during Portugal’s 3-2 success over Bednarek’s Poland.

The two sides meet at Hampden Park in a 5pm BST kick-off, with Alex McLeish likely to make a number of personnel changes for the hosts.

Later in the evening, Bednarek will hope to build on his 90 minutes against Portugal when they come up against The Azzurri (7.45pm BST).

Both sides head into the intriguing contest without a win in League A Grouo 3, with Roberto Mancini’s men being held to a draw on Wednesday against Ukraine on a poignant night which honoured the victims of the bridge collapse in Genoa.

Poland haven’t failed to score at home in a competitive fixture since 2009, while Italy will be looking to improve a record that has seen them win just twice in their last 12 outings.
