There was plenty of overseas success for Southampton's loanees on the continent over the weekend, with victories for Guido Carrillo, Sofiane Boufal and Jordy Clasie.

Carrillo netted two goals in the space of nine second-half minutes, helping Legan├ęs to a 4-2 victory over Valladolid, and lifting them to 16th in La Liga.

The striker, 27, pounced upon a defensive mistake for his first, before sending a towering header beyond Jordi Masip for his brace - taking his seasonal total to five in 14 appearances for Mauricio Pellegrino's side.

Staying in Spain, Boufal played 63 minutes of Celta Vigo's 2-0 triumph over bottom club Huesca.

Iago Aspas found the net twice, either side of the break, as Miguel Cardoso's men rose to 13th position, overtaking Valencia.

In the Netherlands, Clasie helped Feyenoord chase down leaders of the Eredivisie pack PSV Eindhoven on Sunday, with a hard fought 2-1 victory.

Two first-half strikes from Nicolai Jorgensen and Sam Larsson were enough for maximum spoils, despite a second-half fightback from the visitors.

Feyenoord remain ten points behind the Dutch league's front runners, but have closed the gap somewhat with the weekend's result, and have a game spare on their closest rivals.

Harry Reed in action for Championship club Blackburn Rovers

Returning to home shores in the Championship, Saints' Harry Reed was also on the winning side as Blackburn were 4-2 victors over Sheffield Wednesday.

The midfielder, enjoying a productive spell under Tony Mowbray, played the full 90 minutes, where familiar suspects Danny Graham (3) and Bradley Dack (1) were both on the scoresheet.

Elsewhere, Josh Sims was an unused substitute in Reading's 2-2 stalemate with Stoke, adding another point in their bid to fend off the drop zone, while Alfie Jones played 90 minutes of St Mirren's Scottish Premiership clash with Hamilton, where they lost out 3-1.
